Meet Frijoles!
This big boy is about 6 years old and a brown Doberman mix and he currently weighs about 65lbs. He was found on a ranch in very bad condition, he had skin infections and had been on a chain hooked onto a tree so long the chain was embedded into his neck. Luckily, a volunteer and our community members stepped in and helped get him off the chain as soon as possible. Frijoles is a very gentle boy who loves to get cuddles and pets from his hoomans. He is very playful and is great around female dogs, even alpha females. However we are recommending he go to a home without other male dogs as he can be very dominant over them. He has shared dog runs with different female in our shelter and has done wonderfully.
Frijoles had a huge fear of having anything around his neck after he was rescued. We have been working on helping him get over his fear of humans grabbing around his neck, and wearing a leash and collar. However, we feel long term he would prefer to use a harness for walking and being handled versus a collar. For this reason we are also recommending homes with children 15 and older who can understand his sensitive neck and not yank and pull on him. As you can see from the photos, Frijoles has healed all the way, but he needs a family who is dedicated to helping him emotionally heal and help him grow.
Frijole's adoption fee for Oregon, Washington, or California is $200USD or within Baja $150USD. This helps us cover most of his vet and care costs incurred in Mexico, and the transport fee to bring our pups over 1,500 miles to the PNW. All our dogs come spay or neutered, with all theirs shots for the year, and have had multiple blood tests done prior to entering the USA from Mexico.
